Frequently Asked Questions

Why Choose an Orthodontist?

As a board-certified orthodontist, Dr. Kirsten Frazier completed two additional years of specialized residency training after dental school. This training focused exclusively on smile esthetics, bite correction, and jaw alignment. She then went above and beyond by completing rigorous exams and continuing education to become a board certified orthodontist—an achievement earned by only about 30% of orthodontists.

Straightening smiles isn’t just something Dr. Frazier does, it’s what she’s specially trained to do and what she’s passionate about. It’s her full-time focus, day in and day out. With her advanced expertise and commitment to personalized care, you can trust your smile—or your child’s—is in the best possible hands.

At what age should my child first see the Orthodontist?

We recommend that children come in for their first orthodontic evaluation around age 7. At this visit, we’ll assess the development of their teeth and jaw, making sure everything is growing as it should. While early treatment isn’t always necessary at this stage, we do encourage annual check-ups to monitor progress and catch any potential issues early on. These regular visits give us the opportunity to guide jaw development and ensure permanent teeth are coming in properly. Most kids are ready to begin comprehensive treatment between the ages of 11 and 13, and early monitoring helps make that transition as smooth as possible.

Will I start Treatment at my first appointment?

At your first visit, we’ll take detailed photos, X-rays, and a digital scan of your teeth. Dr. Frazier will perform a thorough exam and discuss personalized treatment options with you. We know your time is valuable, so whenever possible, we offer the option to start treatment the same day!

For most patients, that means completing a 3D scan to begin customizing your braces or Invisalign—getting you one step closer to your new smile without an extra trip.

How frequently will I need to visit the orthodontist?

Throughout your treatment, appointments are typically scheduled every 6 to 15 weeks. The exact timing depends on your specific treatment stage and needs, ensuring each visit aligns with your personalized plan for the best results.
